Kanji Certification Program
Read. Write. Remember.
Build the method and mindset of effective kanji study—and reach the goal of success.
About This Class
At Kodomo Gakusyu Kyoshitsu, we offer the official Japanese Kanji Proficiency Test (Kanken) three times a year (June 28, Nov 7, Feb 6). As an officially certified testing venue, both current students and outside participants—including adults—are welcome to take the exam.
This Kanji-focused Course is designed not just to “memorize characters,” but to learn how to study effectively and understand the structure of the test. While attending class alone won’t guarantee passing, understanding how to learn will empower students to practice independently at home.
Reaching the goal of “passing the test” offers a meaningful and motivating experience for children.
Features of the Class

Weekly Classes on Wednesdays
Classes are held at Kodomo Gakusyu Kyoshitsu on Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Lessons are tailored to each student’s exam level, helping them steadily build the skills needed to pass with confidence.

3 Exams Per Year
Students learn through mock tests, repetition, and learning the logic behind each kanji—how to write, remember, and apply.

On-Site Testing Available
As an official sub-venue recognized by the Japan Kanji Aptitude Testing Foundation, students can conveniently take the exam right at our school.

Open to Non-Students Too
External learners (kids & adults) are welcome to join.
Fee: $185/month for weekly lessons + textbook/material fee.
Current students can take this class and the exam free of charge.

A. We recommend starting from a level that feels “easy” to build confidence. We offer testing from Level 10 (1st grade) to Level 2.
Q. Can students join mid-year?
A. Yes, enrollment is open all year.
Q. Is the program open to non-students?
A. Yes! Both lessons and test registration are open to non-students and adults. There are no age restrictions.
