About Our Classes

A Japanese Language Program That Nurtures Your Child’s Curiosity to Learn 鉛筆

At our Japanese class in Honolulu (Makiki, Oahu), we offer a fun and structured after-school environment where kids can learn Japanese through subjects like language arts and math.

Rather than grouping students by age, we place them based on their individual language skill level—allowing them to build confidence and improve at their own pace. Our tailored lessons and small-group settings help draw out each child’s focus and motivation.

Four Flexible Class Styles to Choose From 鉛筆

1. In-Person Group Lessons

Ideal for kids ages 5 to 12, our group lessons cover language arts, math, and basic manners in a friendly and interactive setting. Students are grouped by skill level, with a maximum of 8 children in the preschool class and up to 15 in the elementary classes.

This program is perfect for children who thrive in a group, where learning happens naturally through friendship, cooperation, and shared goals.

2. In-Person Private Lessons

One-on-one lessons are a great option for families needing a flexible schedule or for children who benefit from more personalized attention.

These Japanese lessons are custom-tailored to each student’s needs and learning pace, covering subjects like language arts, math, manners, and more. Whether your child wants to focus on reading comprehension, grammar, or conversation skills, this course is fully customizable.

3. Online Private Lessons (One-on-One)

Our online lessons bring Japanese learning to your home—from Honolulu, Oahu, or anywhere in the world. Using Zoom or Google Meet, we offer a fully individualized curriculum to suit your child’s Japanese level and learning goals.

These one-on-one classes are perfect for families who’ve moved away, live far from a Japanese class, or prefer flexible scheduling. We support everything from Kanji writing to reading practice, speaking skills, and more.

4. JFL Class (Japanese as a Foreign Language)

This course is for children learning Japanese as a second language.

It’s ideal for kids with little or no experience in Japanese, or those who struggle with reading and writing. Students learn at their own pace using fun activities such as songs, games, and picture books—building a foundation in Hiragana, Katakana, and basic conversation.

Note: Math is not included in this course.
